What Are Dental Implants?
If you've lost a tooth due to injury, decay, or gum disease, or if you're struggling with loose dentures or uncomfortable bridges, dental implants may be a great option for you. Dental implants are permanent, natural-looking tooth replacements designed to restore the function and appearance of missing teeth. At Mobile Oral and Facial Surgery, Dr. Christopher Mullenix and Dr. Aaron Wallender provide dental implants that act as artificial tooth roots to support crowns, bridges, or dentures. Dental implants not only help preserve jawbone health and maintain facial structure, but they also provide a secure, long-term solution that can dramatically improve your ability to eat, speak, and smile with confidence. What Is the Dental Implant Treatment Process?
The dental implant treatment process at Mobile Oral and Facial Surgery in Mobile, AL, involves a series of carefully planned steps to ensure optimal results. One of our skilled dental surgeons will begin with a comprehensive consultation, including digital X-rays or 3D imaging, to evaluate your jawbone health and determine if an implant is the right option. If the tooth is still present, it will be extracted. In some cases, a bone graft may be placed to strengthen the jawbone, especially if there has been bone loss. Once the area is ready, the surgeon will surgically insert a small titanium post into the jawbone under local anesthesia or sedation. This post serves as the new tooth root and will need several months to fuse with the bone in a process called osseointegration. After healing, a small connector piece called an abutment is attached to the implant, and finally, a custom crown is secured on top, completing the restoration. The result is a durable, natural-looking replacement tooth that looks, feels, and functions like a real one.
What Are the Benefits of Dental Implants?
Dental implants offer a wide range of benefits that make them one of the most reliable and effective solutions for replacing missing teeth, including:
- Look, feel, and function like natural teeth
- Help preserve jawbone and prevent bone loss
- Improve chewing and speaking abilities
- Provide long-term durability with proper care
- Eliminate the discomfort of removable dentures

Dental Implants Reviews
I’ve had several implants done and they’re the best
My dental implant went Frankenstein on me, creating a vortex in my sinus cavity where a cadre of Dementors were residing.Behold, Dr. Eric and his marvelous magical machines.Presto.Fixed in a Jeff Spicoli“All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I’m fine.”Party on!Excellent
I went in for a dental implant procedure. I was a bit apprehensive due to how many years had gone by since the tooth was extracted. Upon arrival all staff encountered were quite pleasant and reassuring about what I was about to experience. Needless to say everything went very well. When I was awakened after the procedure, I was still waiting for it to begin. Day 2 after the procedure and all I’ve taken is the prescribed antibiotics and OTC Tylenol. Dr. Mullinex even called later that evening to do a wellness check. I go back in several days for a follow up.
I have seen Dr Mullinix for several years and have always had positive results with implants, as well as extractions. The entire staff are very welcoming and caring. I highly recommend him for any type of facial or teeth extractions.
This offices atmosphere was so warm and inviting. That is always a plus when your going in to have all your teeth pulled !!! The ladies at the front were super sweet and helpful and Dr. Mullenix was very kind and explained every process and procedure in details.. i highly recommend Anyone needimg any dental work done or implants go see Dr Mullinex, you won't be disappointed

Am I A Candidate for Dental Implants?
Fixed implants may take the place of any number of deteriorated teeth, ranging from one tooth to an entire arch, making them a versatile option for tooth replacement, restoring missing teeth, and long-term dental solutions. You may be a candidate for dental implants if you have experienced tooth loss, need tooth extractions, or are unhappy with current replacements like dentures or bridges. For implants to be successful, adequate jawbone density, healthy gums, and a stable oral environment are essential, and some patients may need bone grafting or other pre-implant procedures first. Dental implants may not be recommended for those who are pregnant, smoke, or have certain medical conditions that affect healing, and during your consultation, Dr. Mullenix will help determine whether oral implants or other implant dentistry options are right for you.
